Brow FAQs

Brow lamination is a treatment that helps to reshape and set your brow hairs into place giving them a fuller, set, uniformed shape. The process involves applying solutions to the brows, which softens the hair and allows it to be brushed into a more uniform, lifted position.
You can either have a soap/feathered brow look or they can be clean & sculpted!
Brow lamination is ideal for people with unruly, uneven, or sparse brows, as it creates the appearance of fuller, more groomed brows without the need for makeup. The treatment typically lasts 6-8 weeks and requires minimal maintenance, making it a great option for anyone looking to enhance their natural brows with a low-maintenance, long-lasting solution.
-
Brow lamination is perfect for those who have thin/sparse brows, are trying to thicken/grow out brows, don't want to commit to permanent makeup, have unruly/stubborn brows, and/or simply want to enhance their natural brow shape.
-
Brow lamination typically lasts 6 to 8 weeks, depending on your hair type, skin type, and how well you care for your brows after the treatment. Over time, the brow hairs will gradually return to their natural shape as the effects wear off. To maintain the look, you may want to book a maintenance appointment after 3-4 weeks then eventually book the full treatment again every 6-8 weeks.
-
To extend the longevity of your brow lamination, it's recommended to avoid getting your brows wet for the first 24-48 hours after the procedure, avoid excessive rubbing or touching, keep them hydrated with a nourishing brow serum or oil, apply brow conditioner twice per week, avoid harsh or active skincare products, and comb hairs upwards/into place daily to maintain shape.
-
In the first 24 hours after your brow lamination, it's important to follow a few guidelines to ensure the best results. Here's what you can expect:
Initial Appearance: Your brows may look bolder, fuller, more defined, and more lifted than you prefer immediately after the treatment. They may appear more fluffy or sculpted compared to your natural shape. Your hairs are still setting for the first 24 hours so it’s important not to touch or manipulate the hairs in any way during this time. Additionally, they will look stuck to your face, but this will subside after 24 hours. If your brows have been tinted, they may look too dark. They will lighten after 24 hours. TRUST THE PROCESS.
Avoiding Moisture: For the first 24-48 hours, do not get your brows wet. This means avoiding showers, swimming, sweating (no workouts), or even getting your brows damp from splashing water on your face. Moisture can affect how well the lamination sets and may cause the brows to lose their shape prematurely. If you need to wash your face, do so carefully with a cotton round or washcloth avoiding the brow area.
No Makeup or Touching: Refrain from applying makeup (especially brow makeup) or touching your brows for the first 24 hours. This gives the hair time to settle into its new shape and ensures the setting solutions have time to fully work. Rubbing or scratching can also disrupt the process and cause irritation. Additionally, refrain from sleeping on your face or on the side of your face for the first 24 hours as brows are still setting into their shape.
Slight Sensitivity: You may experience mild sensitivity or redness around the brow area right after the treatment, but this usually subsides within a few hours. Be sure to avoid any exfoliation and/or active skincare products for at least 3 days.
Lifting Effect: After the treatment, your brows might feel a little stiff or firm to the touch as the hairs are set in place. This is normal, and the texture will soften over the next couple days as your brows settle into their new shape.
No Steaming or Heat: Avoid exposing your brows to steam or high heat (including saunas and hot showers), as it can affect the lasting effect of the lamination.
By carefully following these guidelines, you’ll ensure the best long-term results from your brow lamination! After 24 hours, you can resume your usual routine, including washing your face, applying makeup, and even using brow products if desired.

The brow tint offered at Frame+Flutter is a natural, subtle tint that stains the skin for 5-7 days and the hairs for 4-6 weeks.
This can depend on factors such as your skin type, hair growth cycle, and how well you care for your brows. Oilier skin tends to shorten the lifespan of brow tinting, as natural oils can cause the tint to fade more quickly. Excessive exposure to water or harsh skin products (like exfoliants) can also speed up fading. As your eyebrow hairs grow, the tint may appear lighter, and the overall shape may shift, leading to the need for another appointment.
To make your tint last longer, try to avoid rubbing or scrubbing your brows, and use gentle, oil-free products around the brow area. Regular brow appointments every few weeks can help keep your brows looking their best.
-
For new clients, it is recommended to grow out your brows (no waxing, threading, tweezing, trimming, or shaving) for at least 4 weeks for best results! However, we can begin the process of reaching your brow goals at any stage.
-
Avoid any skin treatments including and related to facials, microneedling, chemical peels, and spray tans for at least one week.
If you have received permanent make up on the brow area, it must be fully healed before receiving any brow services.
-
Drop the tweezers, facial razors, and/or brow trimmers/scissors at least 4 weeks before your brow appointment.
You must stop the use of the following products for at least one week prior to appointment —
retinol or any retinoid based products
vitamin C
exfoliants (chemical or physical)
antibiotics
blood thinning medication
self tanning products
accutane (must stop usage for 1 year)

A lash lift is a treatment that enhances your natural lashes by applying a solution to the lashes that lifts and curls them from the root, creating a more open, bold, defined, curled look.
Unlike lash extensions, a lash lift works with your natural lashes to give them a fuller, longer appearance without the need for mascara or falsies. The process typically takes about 45 minutes to an hour, and the results can last 6 to 8 weeks as the lashes gradually grow out and shed.
Lash lifts are perfect for those who want to enhance their natural lashes with a more low-maintenance option, giving them a lifted, curled look that can brighten the eyes and add volume without daily curling or applying mascara.
-
A lash lift typically lasts 6 to 8 weeks, depending on your natural lash growth cycle. As your lashes grow and shed naturally, the curl from the lift will gradually relax, and the effect will fade. The exact duration can vary based on factors such as your natural lash growth, aftercare, and skin type.
To maintain the lift, many people schedule lash lifts appointments every 6-8 weeks.

The main difference between a lash lift and lash extensions lies in the process, the results, and the maintenance required:
1. Process:
Lash Lift: A lash lift is a treatment that curls and lifts your natural lashes using a perming solution. The procedure enhances the natural shape of your lashes, making them appear longer, fuller, and more curled. No added lashes are applied.
Lash Extensions: In classic lash extensions, individual synthetic lashes are glued onto your natural lashes, one by one, to add length, volume, and definition. The extensions are customized in terms of length, curl, and thickness to achieve the desired look.
2. Results:
Lash Lift: The result is a more curled and lifted appearance of your natural lashes, creating the illusion of longer, fuller lashes without any extra length added. It’s ideal for those who already have decent lash length but want more definition and curl.
Lash Extensions: Lash extensions add length and volume by attaching synthetic lashes to your natural ones. The result is a more dramatic, customized look, and it’s great for people who want extra fullness or length that their natural lashes can’t achieve on their own.
3. Maintenance:
Lash Lift: A lash lift requires minimal maintenance. It typically lasts 6-8 weeks, and aftercare is very minimal.
Classic Lash Extensions: Extensions require more upkeep. As your natural lashes shed, extensions fall out, and you will need a refill every 2-3 weeks to maintain the look. You’ll also need to avoid rubbing your eyes, using oil-based products, or sleeping on your face to prevent premature shedding.
4. Longevity:
Lash Lift: Lasts around 6-8 weeks, as the curl will relax gradually as your lashes grow and shed naturally.
Classic Lash Extensions: Lasts as long as the natural lash growth cycle (typically 2-3 weeks), but will require regular fills to maintain the look since extensions shed along with your natural lashes.
5. Customization:
Lash Lift: Results are more uniform, enhancing the natural curl and shape of your lashes. It doesn’t involve added length or volume, so it’s great for a more natural look.
Classic Lash Extensions: Extensions are highly customizable in terms of length, curl, and volume, offering a more dramatic and tailored effect.
Both treatments provide beautiful results, but the choice depends on how dramatic you want the change to be and how much maintenance you're willing to commit to.

With lash extensions, most people need a fill every 2 to 3 weeks. This is because your natural lashes go through a growth cycle, and as they shed, the extensions will naturally fall out with them. The exact timing between fills can vary depending on several factors including natural lash growth, aftercare, and lifestyle.
In general, for the best results, most clients aim for a refill every 2-3 weeks to maintain a full and lush look. If you wait too long, you may need a full set instead of a fill, as too many lashes will have fallen out.

Proper cleaning of your lash extensions is crucial to maintaining their longevity and keeping your lashes healthy. Here's how you can clean them effectively:
Use a Lash Extension-Safe Cleanser
Avoid oil-based products as they can weaken the adhesive. Instead, use a gentle, oil-free cleanser that is specifically designed for lash extensions. We have cleansers available for purchase or you can ask us what cleansers we recommend you get on your own.
Gently Wash Your Lashes
Wet your face with lukewarm water (not hot, as it can weaken the glue).
Apply a small amount of the lash cleanser to a clean fluffy brush.
Gently cleanse your lashes in a downward motion, focusing on the lash line and roots. Avoid rubbing the extensions—this could cause them to pull out or tangle.
Rinse Thoroughly
After gently washing, rinse your lashes with lukewarm water to remove any cleanser. Be gentle, and avoid scrubbing or pulling.
Dry Your Lashes
After rinsing, gently pat your lashes with a clean towel or tissue to remove excess moisture.
Let your lashes air-dry or you dry them with a mini fan. Avoid using a blow dryer or rubbing your lashes, as this can cause damage.
Use a Spoolie / Lash Brush
Once your lashes are dry, use a clean spoolie brush to comb through your lashes. This helps them stay neat while detangling and minimizing clumping. Brush gently from the roots to the tips to keep the lashes aligned and looking fluffy.
Clean Regularly
Ideally, you should clean your lash extensions daily, especially if you wear makeup or have oily skin. Cleaning regularly helps prevent build-up of oils, makeup, or dust that can cause irritation or shorten the life of your extensions.
Avoid Mascara
Avoid using mascara on lash extensions, as it can be difficult to remove and may require rubbing or tugging, which can damage the extensions.
Be Gentle
When cleansing, always be gentle with your lashes to avoid pulling or rubbing too hard. Excessive force can lead to premature shedding of the extensions.
-
It is not recommended to get a lash lift immediately after removing your lash extensions. You should wait at least 3 weeks after removing lash extensions before getting a lash lift. This allows your natural lashes to return to their normal growth cycle and for any irritation or stress from the extension removal process to subside. This break will help ensure that your natural lashes are healthy and strong enough to undergo the lifting process.
